Kitchens & Bathrooms

I am always on the hunt for kitchen and bathroom ideas. I tend to lean toward the older-classic-turn of the century home styles. I grew up in a turn of the century craftsman home, and I loved the romance and character of it. I am in love with the idea of a timeless, trendless home. I hope the craftsman home we are building will not be 'dated' in 10 years.

Here are ideas I love.

I love this kitchen but I think I have decided against this floor for the kitchen. We will be doing it in our entry way though.

Clearly, I like white.

I have white cabinets. I didn't pick them, but I love them. Wood finishes come and go, but white is timeless.

Those pictures are wonderful. I hope you get the look and feel you want.

I lived in a few older homes before getting married. I loved the pale yellow hexagon tile countertop, claw-foot tub, funky cupboards, groovy windows and fun arches between the rooms. I didn't love the lead pipe risks and such. Building a new home with some of those those classic styles will be GREAT.

Oh, you are going to have a beautiful kitchen. My dream kitchen would be white (painted wood) cabinets, grey silestone countertops, distressed dark bamboo floors and a funkier glass backsplash. With commercial grade appliances of course. A girl can dream can't she? I wish we were building! I think it is stressful, but fun.

White is great because it looks so clean. You will love your old/new home. :)

Yeah, I really loved the turn of the century craftsman home...cracked plaster, flooded basement, plugged toilets, unrequested murals on Nate's wall. But it was an interesting house and an interesting family.

Hey, I didn't have to fix or pay for the house so do not ruin the fantasy of it's beauty and craftsmanship for me Daddy-O.
