Mindless

I used to pride myself on having a great memory. There was a time when names came easily, dates were never forgotten, and events were never missed on account of being overlooked.
Due to old age (or possibly that lack of REM sleep), the last year has been one of confusion and multiple apologies. I now forget everything. I forget parties, activities, birthdays, groceries, times tables, sentence structure, adjectives, and my name. In the last few months I have forgotten about 2 parties, a neighborhood fund raiser, a plethora of groceries, the primary Christmas activity, and that Norah was supposed to give a talk on Sunday (actually I didn't forget, I never knew because I forgot to pick up the primary newsletter) . This isn't a case of 'conveniently' forgetting. There are consequences for my mindless behavior. I am really sad that my family and I are missing out because of my lack of competence and that I appear to be such a flake.
So I apologize to all of you whom I have offended. I am sorry.

Please enjoy our ginger bread house.

Oh, there is one more thing I forgot about in these last few months...

this one carries very serious consequences...

VERY

VERY

SERIOUS.

You are pregnant???
Congratulations!
You are a strong, strong woman....much stronger than I...

Congrats!! I forget all kinds of stuff too, but there is one thing I NEVER forget! At least now you will have enough rooms on the same level so everyone doesn't want to sleep in your room!

No, no I'm not (strong that is, pregnant yes). This is not what I would have chosen for myself. I am trying to keep a brave face though.

P.S. I didn't mean to souns snotty like "I never forget that". It 's just you are a better person than I, and Mike knows I would lose my sanity if we added another wild boy to the mix at the moment! I'm selfish, that's why I never forget.

I am selfish too Sheri, this by no means means that I am a strong person, just stupid.

What the?? ...I don't know what to say except - you can get through this! I guess here's your answer to how to wean Abram. Things like this just help us see the miracle of life, right? Sure...whatever you can think of to help you through it. There is a Master Plan! I am sending good karma and lots of hugs!!

I guess that explains the two tests...you weren't planning this!

WOW!! Congratulations!!! That's so exciting. Holy cow!! Just think of all the cute maternity clothes out there nowadays. Of course, you probably know that, as you were pregnant not too recently, but they really are cute. :-)

I am totally excited for you!!

Well, Martha, I guess the news is out! If it is any consolation (I am only trying to console you b/c I know it was a surprise), you have super cute kids. I don't know if that helps any, but it's true! Like I said, you need to hire a nanny! I still want to know what Brad is thinking with baby #4 on the way...

Congrats!! I love it. Did you take one test and forget and take another, or take one test and not believe it?! Been there, done that and it is tough but wonderful. You can do it.

I am getting good REM sleep and still forget things. My compter is my brain. I put everything on my computer calendar with reminders for important things--like carpool and stuff like that!

This was a cute and clever post.

Wow! congrats and hugs coming your way.

It will probably go by fast with your little guy to keep you busy. Right? Seriously though, I have to say that this pregnancy has gone by faster than my others. For whatever reason.

And now your forgetfulness will get even worse for a while. I will think of something in the morning and forget by the afternoon, even if I have it written down somewhere. Will we ever be able to recover the parts of our brains that seem to go missing with pregnancy and breast-feeding?

those aren't really pregnancy tests. they're forgetfulmeters. everytime you use one, and it comes up positive, it's an indication that you have indeed lost another portion of your mind, to include a teeny section from the memory department.
so congratulations, mama!

Congrats Martha! As a fellow mom of 3 I have heard that 4 isn't that big after 3?!?! You'll have to tell me if that is true and then maybe I will join you.

O.k. Martha, here's what you need to do. GO. OUT. WITH. NATALIE. AND. ME!!!!!! I am very very serious about that. I don't care what it takes, we are getting you out for some Martha time.

Before I saw the last picture I was thinking to myself that each time I was pregnant, my brain would quit on me and many things were forgotten...ha ha! So congratulations! Good Luck with everything!

Congratulations Martha and Brad! Martha, I know you can do it! I'm here to help...and it looks like there are lots of others out there, too. When the house is done, it won't seem so overwhelming...And I agree with Emily, we need to get you out for some Martha time.

What a clever way to give the news. I love it!! You might not see it now (or maybe you do), but you'll someday know why this was meant to happen right now. Congratulations!
